NEWSLETTER december 2018
Hi there! Christmas is just around the corner and as you can see Milo is clearly thrilled and reflecting on what a productive and fun year 2018 has been. I was fortunate to be able to attend IVACON - the Institute for Vocal Advancement's annual international conference in Edinburgh which was educational and exciting ... not to mention the Ghost tours! SKVS ran an Introduction to IVA course and 3 successful Performance Workshops throughout the past year.
Now it's time to plan for 2019 and I have Xmas treats galore for you!
GIVE THE GIFT OF SONG THIS CHRISTMAS
Looking for something special for a loved one? Gift vouchers are valid up to 6 months from the date of purchase. You choose the number of lessons you wish to gift... or perhaps drop a hint to someone for your own Christmas gift. For more information or to purchase a gift certificate contact me on firstname.lastname@example.org or contact me via the form below.
What better gift to give a budding singer than one that will grow their skills as a performer! The objective of the SKVS Performance Workshop (PW) is to provide a unique opportunity for singers to practice performing in a safe space with vocalists who have a similar goal. Performing your songs adds a whole other dimension to your vocal technique and enriches and adds to your growth as a singer.
After consulting with PW students, the first Performance Workshop for 2019 will have a different goal. It will run for 8 weeks and the final week will culminate in a performance for family and friends. SEE Performance Workshop page for new dates!

Introduction to IVA Course
After successfully presenting this course early this year, I will once again be running IVA’s Introductory Course in January 2019.
This course is designed for new voice teachers, choir directors, speech language pathologists or anyone who wants to learn about the basics of teaching voice in a successful way. It is also great for those who are unsure if they want to focus on the teaching path, or for those who have already acquired other vocal education and want to take a look at the IVA method.
The course is 8 hours and will be taught over 2 days (4 hours a day).
The content of the course will cover the following and more:
How the voice works
The Singers Perception
Basic Vocal Tendencies
Core IVA Values
Basic Lesson Structure

Singing Yourself Awake
The singing voice is a remarkable and sometimes frustrating instrument, in that as we attempt to build our skills we are unable to see how it works. It is affected by so many things including the weather, our emotions, jetlag, sleep deprivation, what we eat and so on. Spencer Welch - IVA's Director of Education share's some ideas on how to get a handle on this most unique instrument.
The Balanced Singer
I am so excited to share The Balanced Singer, a new resource for daily singing tips, information, and inspiration—all perfectly aligned with how I teach my singing students. A full website complete with singing courses is to come, but for now, follow The Balanced Singer (TBS) on social media. Join the TBS community to get your daily dose of singing expertise.
Best wishes from Sue Kingham Vocal Studio for a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year, full of love and family and friends - and don't forget the singing!!!
