What is Speech Level Singing (SLS)?

Speech Level Singing (SLS) is a method of using your voice freely and clearly and maximising your vocal abilities in any style of singing, from Pop to Rock, Jazz to Musical Theatre, Blues and Classical. SLS connects the voice from bottom to top, eliminates any unwanted breaks and flips and balances the overall tone of the voice. SLS increases range and flexibility and stamina, and gives you a belt sound without strain. See Speech Level Singing.

Who is Sue Kingham?

Sue Kingham has been training for over 8 years as an SLS vocal instructor and is currently in her second year as a level 3 instructor. Sue is a professional vocalist and performer with over 23 years of experience, and has taught at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) in the Contemporary and Jazz Music courses for over 15 years. Sue is also a member of the SLS Education Advisory Group (EAG) for Western Australia and in this capacity communicates with and assists people interested in becoming SLS instructors. Sue’s role as EAG is also to assist the current pre certified instructor’s, and to organise and promote SLS events in the area.

SLS teachers must complete annual educational requirements for their level of certification, and are expected to give a lesson as true to the method as intended by Seth Riggs. Only a Certified SLS instructor has the privilege of using Seth’s name or the SLS trademark.
